Can one or two sessions be enough?

I have very occasionally worked with individuals and couples where it has been clear to me that the first session has offered a significant insight that has allowed something significant to shift rather than a ‘flight into wellbeing’. More often when there is a sudden sense of everything being better after one or two sessions it is likely to be temporary and needs more ongoing work to make a lasting change. However, resources don’t always allow for this and there can be some benefit in gaining small insights that one can continue to ‘work on’ after the therapy.
