The current trend of listening to or following your heart – which essentially means get in touch with your feelings and use them to give you guidance when making a decision – may result in unwise decisions. This emphasis seems something of a reaction to an overemphasis on thinking things through. The other side of only following your thoughts is just as dangerous. When seeking to make a wise decision include thought, feelings/emotion, instinct, and the input of trusted people. Do not privilege one source.
Follow your heart?
