What is self love?

Self love is not the same as selfishness. It is exercising self care by making wise choices for ourselves and bringing warmth and friendliness to this self care. We love ourselves effectively when we organize our relationships, our diet, our work, our pastimes and our choices in such a way that they lead to and protect the goals of self care in the areas of health, happiness and personal growth. We love ourselves effectively when we bring the qualities of clear intention to these goals and allow warmth, friendliness and curiosity to accompany us as we carry them out – sometimes with greater and other times with less effectiveness. When we stumble on following through with our intentions we don’t judge ourselves harshly but gently get up, smile at our fallibility, dust ourselves off, and reset the intention.
